How a room actually gets going

Company parties follow a fairly reliable arc. They start with everyone politely holding a drink at the edge of the room, and the good ones end with the finance team on the dancefloor. Live music is what moves a room from the first state to the second.

Kinmara does it in two gears. Our singer plays fiddle, and the first set is built around it, which gives the early part of the night a warmth that gets even reluctant colleagues out of their seats. Once the room is going, we switch to an indie pop party set for the rest of the evening. One band, no awkward middle hour, and nobody has to sit through a genre they did not come for.

    December books up first

It is the busiest month in the events calendar and the good dates go early, so if you are planning a company Christmas party, booking sooner is genuinely easier than booking well.

The fiddle earns its place at this time of year. The first set has a festive warmth to it without being a traditional ceilidh band: there is no caller, nobody needs to know any steps, and it works as well for a room in black tie as one in Christmas jumpers. Then the indie pop set takes over and carries the rest of the night.

    For event managers

If you are organising on behalf of a company, you are dealing with the band directly rather than an agency, which usually makes the practical side quicker. Spec, space and power, and how music runs between and after our sets. Get in touch and we will confirm the details for your venue. If you have been left looking at short notice dates, our short notice booking page explains how that works, and the same process applies to corporate events.
