Built for a Sussex Wedding
Sussex weddings tend to sit outdoors for as long as the weather allows. A ceremony on the Downs, drinks in a walled garden, then everyone moved into a barn or a tipi as the light goes. Our day is built the same way. We start fiddle-led and acoustic, warm enough to talk over, then turn the evening into a proper indie party.
That afternoon set is where the folk side really lands. At the Walled Garden at Cowdray it was the folk session that got Sophie's Irish family up and started the party hours before the evening set. At Findon Place we learned the couple's first dance song specially, along with a handful of guest requests on the night.
Sussex venues do come with their own quirks. Estate venues and walled gardens often run a noise limiter to protect the licence, and open sided tipis have nothing for the sound to reflect off. Our lead guitarist is a professional sound engineer, so we set up around whichever one you have rather than hoping for the best and getting cut off at nine o'clock.
